Healthy Men, Healthy Families, Healthy Communities

A grant from the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) has positioned Hampton University to take a quantum leap to close the gap in Minority Men’s Health Disparities.  Passionate about their innovative research and technology, HBCU researchers work together emphasizing the collective power to improve the quality of health that empowers minority men to live well.  The results will be sustainable for all Americans—healthy men transform to healthy families and healthy communities create a healthier tomorrow today.  The leadership of Hampton University as well as its researchers believe that one’s health and longevity should not be dependent on where one lives or based on an individual’s socioeconomic status, gender, race, or ethnicity.

Dr. William R. Harvey

“The Minority Men's Health Initiative is not just about Hampton, but what HBCUs can accomplish when they bring their respective strengths to a project and work together. I believe that collective competence is better than individual competence any day."

William R. Harvey
President, Hampton University
